Overview

Join us for one of Anne's morning walks around the countryside to the north of Manchester

Following the wide Yarrow Valley along fields and meadows until we find the tiny River Chor. You might think that's where Chorley got it's name, but actually it is the other way round! Mostly good paths, some patches of muddy field and woodland tracks. Some ascents and descents but not steep, some steps, some stiles. Medium pace, slower uphill, back at the cars around 12.30pm.

The walk is 6 miles around 2 hours 15 minutes walking, with no lunch stop, just 2 or 3 quick drink stops along the way.

Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are okay but must be on a lead in places and they are not allowed in Birkacre Garden Centre Car Park

Toilets: There are public toilets outside the Cafe at the start, which might not open til 10am, but we will wait for you as long as we know you are there.

Optional: lunch after in Birkacre Garden Centre Cafe, 4 minutes walk from the start (Yarrow Valley Car Park), they do lovely food - sandwich and a cuppa about £10.  Please answer the booking question to let us know if you want to join us for this at the time of booking. Sorry, dogs not allowed. Best to change muddy boots and wet coats before going into the Garden Centre
