At York's Chocolate Story, you’ll discover chocolate’s origins, how to make it, how to taste it like an expert and even the sustainable future of chocolate.
You’ll also uncover a host of surprising secrets and fascinating facts behind York’s greatest chocolate products.
Includes
- a guided tour where an entertaining and informative tour guide will take you through 3000 years of chocolate history and how it came to York.
- see step by step how the cocoa bean is transformed into the chocolate as we know it today, and learn to taste chocolate like a professional.
- a live demonstration from an expert chocolatier, with samples to be had along the way

Location & Itinerary
This is an optional activity for those on our Spice National Weekend in Historic York.
We'll meet in the hotel reception or if you are already out, go to York's Chocolate Story in King's Square (at the top of The Shambles) shown in square EE3 on the York Tourist Map.
We'll meet in the Radisson Hotel reception and then walk for about ten minutes to the museum in King's Square.
If you are already out, then you can go straight to York's Chocolate Story at the top of The Shambles and meet us there at 2:10pm.
