Celebrate York's Viking heritage with a visit to the Jorvik museum. Discover the lives of the inhabitants of 10th-century York as you travel around the reconstruction of the city.
The world famous Jorvik Viking Centre is on the site of one of the most famous and astounding discoveries of modern archaeology. Between the years 1976 to 1981 archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust, an independent educational charity, revealed the houses, workshops and backyards of the Viking Age city of Jorvik as it stood nearly 1,000 years ago.
These incredible discoveries enabled the building of a Viking museum on the very site where the excavations had taken place, creating a ground-breaking visitor experience where you take a journey through the reconstruction of Viking Age streets and experience life as it would have been in 10th century York.

Location & Itinerary
This is an optional activity for those on our Spice National Weekend in Historic York.
We'll meet in the hotel reception at 11:05, or if you are already out, go to Jorvik on Coppergate, shown in the bottom left of square EE4 on the York Tourist Map for 11:15
We'll meet in the Radisson Hotel reception and then walk for about five minutes to the museum in Coppergate.
If you are playing Wizard Golf beforehand, your host will show you the way to Jorvik as it is in the same square, so there will be no need to return to the hotel between events.
