Prestatyn Coast Camping & Hostel Weekend
Overview
After a break of 5 years we return to Prestatyn on the North Wales Coast taking exclusive hire Salford by the Sea's Holiday Camp.
As always with these hostel style weekends they are at a great price and even better the money goes to help the upkeep of the camp which is a registered charity & provides great holiday breaks for disadvantaged children.
This long weekend will suit the social walkers and the non-walkers for whom there is plenty to do in the area.
The beautiful seaside town of Prestatyn in North East Wales can be found on the cusp of the Irish Sea coast to the east of Rhyl. Ffrith beach with direct access from the venue is perfect for relaxing on while Central and Barkby beaches are great for windsurfing and sailing. The Offa's Dyke 176 mile trail ends in Prestatyn. For those wanting to travel further afield, the busy seaside town of Llandudno, Conway, Abergele are under an hours minute drive away and are always worth a day out!
Onsite there is a large community room that will be available to use though it might be in use some of the time during our visit, there's a games room with pool tables & table tennis, a sports barn, dining room, outside seating area and plenty of outdoor space and all just 150 metres from the beach - who knows if we are lucky we might get some sunbathing in! We have also paid for access to the lounge in the flat too.
The socialising space is away from the dormitories so the party animals shouldn't keep those wanting to sleep awake! This is more or less a catered weekend so no mucking in cooking breakfasts or washing up this time though a bit of help cleaning up the communal rooms after our evening socialising sessions is always welcome. Though if we are lucky, we might get balmy evenings outdoors to socialise!

Location & Itinerary
For the walkers, we have access straight on to the beach and The Wales Coast Path where we can go South on the prom towards Rhyl and beyond to the Kinmel Nature Reserve or North passing Prestatyn itself and on to the Gronant Dunes Nature Reserve.
Alternatively we could drive inland and access the Clwydian Way and Offa's Dyke & explore the Clwydian Hills overlooking the coastline.
Or why not bring your bike with you - the promenade from Prestatyn to Rhyl gives ideal, flat cycle riding opportunities.
For the non walkers we are within driving distance of many attractions. There are the seaside towns of Prestatyn, Rhyl & Abergele all within 15 to 30 minutes drive with Colwyn Bay and Llandudno a little further afield. In addition to these seaside towns the attractions of The Welsh Mountain Zoo, The Welsh Slate Museum, Bodelwyddan Castle and the Unesco town of Conway with its fabulous Castle all within reach.
Travel & Stay
We are once again taking exclusive use of the The Holiday Camp managed by the Salford Foundation. The camp underwent major refurbishment in 2019 and provides comfortable, clean budget accommodation which is ideal for a Spice weekend.
The dormitories are very large with well spaced out single beds and we won't be over filling them making sure that there is plenty of room and storage space for your belongings.
A real bonus with this venue is that is that they aren't bunk beds but adult size single beds so no disturbing your room-mates climbing up to the top bunk.
There are two single bedded rooms within the dormitory building and two twin rooms in the flat. These are available on a first come first served basis at additional cost. All bedding is provided. If you are someone who would prefer to camp, you can bring your camping equipment (or campervan/caravan) and set yourselves up on the spacious sports field utilising the dormitory washrooms & showers. Please note that there aren't any electric hooks ups and you will be utilising the bathroom facilities within the dormitory accommodation.

Salford Children's Holiday Camp, 86 Victoria Rd West, Prestatyn, LL19 7AG is reached from the main A548, the coastal road called Victoria Road West with the access drive being between 2 bungalows on the coastal side of the road very close to the pelican crossing. There is a car park onsite with overflow parking on the field just beyond the car park.
Public Transport: Prestatyn Railway Station is 1 1/2 miles from the venue
