Pickleball

A cross between table tennis, tennis and badminton. Played on a badminton size court, with the net lowered. You play with a 'Paddle' (bat) and a plastic ball which is about 73mm in diameter

A fast growing sport (Its a national problem that we cannot get enough courts for the amount of people who are wanting to play)

Pickleball clubs are forming all of the time across the UK, and communities and friendships are being formed and its great for any age. You do not need to have any sports experience, however you do need to have some hand eye co-ordination

Keiths proposal

SPICE national tennis weekends used to be a regular feature on the events, and Keith went to a few. What stands out as well as the tennis, is the friends made and it was a fun weekend

Keith would love to replicate this weekend for Pickleball, and hopefully make it a regular feature within the SPICE events.

He is a racket sports player and coach (Coaching qualifications which include tennis, table tennis, badminton and pickleball) At the moment, he's coaching Pickelball for Freedom Leisure and playing in regional leagues. Quite a few years ago he coached SPICE badminton weekends

Please wear comfortable clothing (gym wear ideal) and trainers with non marking soles. No black soles allowed as they mark the courts.

Keith will teach the rules and the basic strokes as well as court positioning, and you will of course play a few games. At the end of the course you will have enough knowledge to be able to join a pickleball club

Keith will be supplying quite a lot of information within the timeframe we have (2 x 4 hour sessions) so people need to be prepared for this. Its pretty easy to follow, and Keith will make it a learning and sociable experience for everyone.
