Walking with Linda: 5 or 8 mile, Blackheath to London Bridge Walk via the Greenwich Observatory, Riv
Overview
Join Linda on this 5 or 8 mile, Blackheath to London Bridge Walk via the Greenwich Observatory, River Thames Docks, & a London Farm.
Please meet at the front of Blackheath railway station at 0950, ready to depart at 1000. If you arrive early, you'll probably find your walk leader and some other walkers in the Gail's café across the road.
We will walk out to Greenwich Park and the vantage view point over London and the Thames by the Greenwich Observatory where you can straddle the Greenwich Mean Time Line if you wish.
We will then walk down to the River Thames and follow it to walk round historic docks before stopping for lunch (at your own expense) at The Ship & Whale Pub, built in 1880 but dating from 1767.
After lunch we'll visit the nearby Surrey Docks London Farm to see the animals. You might like to treat yourself to a coffee and/or cake there as dessert after your lunch.
If 5 miles, a pub lunch and the farm visit is enough for you, you can leave us here to catch a tube home from the nearby Surrey Quays station.
Otherwise, we'll walk on past some historic and interesting sights to London Bridge, where we can get ourselves a cup of tea at our afternoon drink stop before getting our trains home from London Bridge.
Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want.
Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring a golfing umbrella if it is expected to rain!).
Please check your transport times, and for any engineering works, at least the day before the walk and allow some contingency time for delays.
The walk needs to depart on time for the comfort and enjoyment of those who have arrived on time. Thank you.
