The Big Wheel/ City Flyer/ Birmingham German Market
Overview
This event is open to everyone but If you're staying overnight at the Spice Christmas Party , why not extend your visit to the City Centre and join Steve on The Big Wheel and The City Flyer followed by a wander down to the Frankfurt Market.
Free to book on but please book so we can get an idea of numbers. Pay for your rides on the day.
The Big Wheel
The big wheel provides tremendous views of Birmingham! Looking directly over the ice rink, the wheel will take you high in the air, looking at the people ice skating below.
The City Flyer
Unless you're brave enough to throw yourself out of an aeroplane for a parachute jump, the 55-metre tall City Flyer could be the closest you'll ever come to flying like a bird over Brum. It's a whirligig of a machine, sending riders in its red bucket seats spinning around and around high above Centenary Square.
After we have braved one or both of the rides we can stop off in the Ice Bar for refreshments before wandering down to the Frankfurt Markets long New Street or we can go straight to the Markets and sample the food and drink there.
The Frankfurt Market
Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market is a firm fixture in the city’s annual calendar and a massive favourite with both residents and visitors to the city from across the UK and Europe. Birmingham comes alive every winter with the arrival of the Market, a clear sign that Christmas is just around the corner. The stalls on Victoria Square and along New Street offer something for everyone.
The largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market offers a large range of traditional good and gifts and a selection of tempting food and drink. Pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, and roasted almonds will tempt your tastebuds, all of which can be washed down with gluhwein, weissbeer (wheat beer), or tasty hot chocolate.
A great place to meet up with family and friends and enjoy the live music programme on Victoria Square. And whilst you’re here why not pick up some presents for your family and friends with everything from handcrafted wooden decorations and delicate glass baubles to in the form of the ever-favourite crystal lamps, Sounds of Nature, hand-crafted leatherwork, toys, jewellery and much more besides!
