Overview

Although it has been some time, our old friends at The Jam House haven't forgotten us and have offered us some specially reduced tickets, exclusively for Spice members.

Spice first visited The Jam House in 2007 and we continued to send members there every month (at least!) until the pandemic. We're hoping to start enjoying this fabulous venue once again with what is set to be a fantastic night, led by Shakatak.

“Night Birds”, “Down on the Street”, and “Easier Said than Done” are just three of the instantly recognisable tracks of Shakatak, a band at the fore-front of the UK Jazz Funk scene of the early ‘eighties.

These music nights are a rare opportunity to see musical icons in the intimate setting of The Jam House. We have a limited number of tickets so don't delay in booking as when they’re gone – they’re gone!

About Shakatak: The band have enjoyed a level of success and career longevity rarely paralleled in contemporary music – but then Shakatak is a particularly unusual group.

Because of the nature of their music, their fan base is one that is far reaching while always retaining an ‘underground element’. This paradox sees the band, who are known primarily as serious jazz/funk musicians, enjoying both high ‘cult’ status and instant recognition as a household name. Band members are Bill Sharpe, Jill Saward, George Anderson and Roger Odell.

Location & Itinerary

The Venue: The Jam House is a prestigious music venue set in a traditional three-storey Georgian building. The Jam House is a landmark and a long standing, award-winning venue offering a unique combination of live music, good food and great times!

The venue was opened by Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, and since then, they have hosted performances from Chaka Khan, The Stylistics, The Specials, The Beat, and Steve Gibbons to name but a few. Celebrity guests at the venue have included Bill Wyman, Ocean Colour Scene, Jamie Cullum and many others.

Arrival: You can arrive any time from 8pm, the music starts with a warm up act from approx. 9pm (depending on the show), leading to the headliner.

Is this for me?

Our Spice host will be there to welcome you and will keep the Spice members together where they can, but please bear in mind that this is a busy venue that's open to the public with live music playing, so this may not always be easy!

Dress code: The Jam House is an over 21's venue, and they operate a smart casual dress code. Please note ID may be requested on the door (if you're lucky!).

Host & Everything Else

Where possible we will have a Spice Coordinator at these events from around 8pm and we will put a contact name and number in the ‘host details’ for you to call/text them when you arrive (or ask the door staff to point them out). We will keep the Spice members together if we can, but bear in mind that there will be several hundred members of the public there as well, so this may not be easy!
