Spice Dines Portuguese at Porto Douro - Solihull
Overview
Tonight we will be dining at Porto Douro Portuguese restaurant in Solihull.
Porto Douro create delicious meals for all occasions, in a truly unique Portuguese style. Porto Douro restaurant was founded in 2019 by two young entrepreneurs Fernando and Kelly, who had a dream, and a passion for the hospitality industry. The foundation of their dream was to create a unique restaurant where the food and service transported people to a different destination a warm and welcoming place, Porto in PORTUGAL.
Porto Douro Restaurant is a place where individuals come together and enjoy good food, good wine & good times!
Since Porto is so close to the Atlantic Ocean, one of its star dishes is fresh fish, including the renowned “cod”, which is prepared in various ways. Another typical dish is the “Tripas à moda do Porto”, a stew of beef stomach and white beans. When the Castilians attacked Portugal in the fourteenth century, the people of Porto were left with little food and were obliged to eat animal organs and this is why the inhabitants of Porto have the nickname Tripeiros. Another tasty traditional dish is the “Francesinha”, a filling sandwich with ham, sausage, steak, egg and a rich sauce made with beer. It is always served with chips. These amazing dishes and a lot more are available at Porto Douro restaurant.

Location & Itinerary
As many of you know, we usually look to work with a set price, choice menu. This makes it easier for us to collect the money in advance and then settle the bill with the venue.
We are finding more and more restaurants who we would love to include in our events programme, don’t have a set price menu, and the menu options are too varied for us to use a mid-price point, to charge everyone the same.
We tried a method where you pay a nominal fee to Spice and just pay for your food on the day but that makes it very complicated for the host.
Rather than excluding these restaurants we are using a method whereby members pay a nominal amount to Spice to book, and pre-order their food in advance, but off the full menu. We will then update each booking with the actual price and (where necessary) a service charge.
You can see their current menu using this link but bear in mind that the menu could change before our visit. We will send a link to pre-order your menu choices nearer the date of the meal.
