Bristol & Bath Christmas Markets Party and Social Weekend

Overview: Join us for a Christmas Markets and Party Weekend with Steve and Arlene Dell. We stay in the lovely and vibrant city of Bristol and explore two great cities; Bristol and Bath, the latter is of course renowned for its wonderful Christmas Markets.  

The weekend is designed to be flexible and on both days there will be a number of co-ordinated activities. You can do some or all of these activities, dipping in and out as you please. 

On the Saturday we will catch the train to and discover Bath with attractions such as The Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, Jane Austen Centre and of course the wonderful Bath Christmas Markets, where you can soak in the atmosphere. It will be getting dark before we leave so you will see the markets all lit up, creating a wonderful atmosphere.  

The package includes a Christmas Party at the hotel on the Saturday Evening where we have a number of tables booked at a ‘join a party’. We will also join the Spice South West members, so it will be a great crowd.  

On the Sunday we can discover Bristol, one of England’s most popular tourist destinations. Bristol’s waterfront and Harbourside has been transformed in recent years to become a major leisure destination in its own right, with its stylish cafes, bars and museums & galleries and of course there is the SS Great Britain. Last time we started Sunday off with the water taxi taking us to either the SS Great Britain or the Waterfront. 

Bristol is a remarkable place where old and new architecture live side by side. The Old city with its medieval churches, historic buildings, castle ruins and bustling markets is near to ultra chic Cabot Circus, Bristol’s newest shopping area.  

We stay in the lovely 4* Doubletree by Hilton hotel which is a short walk from the railway station and is very central.  

The weekend starts… 

Friday evening: We can have a wander into Bristol to eat and then discover some of their lovely pubs in the Old City or Harbourside areas.  

Saturday: There will be a day trip to Bath with an itinerary throughout the day and as usual you can “dip in and out” as you wish.  

Saturday Evening: We have a number of tables at the Christmas Dinner Dance at our hotel which includes ½ a bottle of wine, a three course meal and disco until 1am.

Sunday: There will be a number of coordinated activities such as Brunel’s SS Great Britain, the world’s first great ocean liner, now a living museum, @ Bristol, interactive science exhibits and planetarium, M Shed, a new attraction opened a few years ago which tells the story of Bristol from prehistoric times to the 21^st century and of course Clifton Suspension Bridge, Brunel’s famous bridge over the Avon gorge. We can have a look at the impressive bridge in the light and then wander to a nearby hotel / pub with a viewing gallery when it will be going dark to see the bridge all lit up.
