Brewood Easy Ramble
Overview
Following several requests, Rob has planned this ramble to include the option of a shorter version of 3½ miles or the full 6 miles. Both options are mainly flat. This is a very picturesque ramble whichever option you choose.
Starting from the pub we join the pretty towpath of the Shropshire Union canal as we go towards Shutt Green passing Brewood Wharf. A bridleway and quiet lanes take us to Horsebrook and then onwards to Brewood through quiet fields and open farmland. We pass through to the centre of Brewood. Here you can finish or pause for a quick drink at one of the local pubs.
The last section passes through the village and its pretty Church and heads to a beautiful canal cutting before leaving the canal at a very ornate bridge south towards Chillington Hall.
We head up "The Avenue" via the Staffordshire Way to the gates of Chillington Hall.
We then return to Brewood using a quiet lane and the canal.
Location & Itinerary
There will be an option of a pub lunch at The Bridge Inn after the ramble, which does an excellent carvery which is terrific value for money at £13.99 with larger and smaller options.
