Bike Ride: Severn Beach To Chepstow - 18 Miles Round Trip.
Overview
It’s Back! Thanks to our great Spice member and guide Mike, Spice are back on two wheels exploring the countryside. Cycling is both great exercise and an enjoyable way of seeing the local area. Today Mike Vowles will lead us on a new bike ride from Severn Beach to Chepstow.
We'll leave Severn Beach and ride along the seawall via the picturesque villages of Redwick and Northwick. The highlight of this enjoyable ride will be cycling across the old Severn Bridge with some amazing views of both Chepstow and the second Severn Crossing. When we arrive at Chepstow we’ll have some lunch at The Boathouse, a lovely riverside pub. Once fed and watered, we’ll enjoy the return journey back across the bridge and down to Severn Beach. The ride is 18 miles in length, 9 miles each way with a nice break in the middle and is mostly on recognised cycle routes away from the main roads.
The journey each way should take around an hour and three quarters to complete. Mike will make sure that the pace is kept gentle so that everyone can keep up – it’s not going to be The Tour De France!
For this event you will need to bring your own bike. For insurance purposes you MUST also bring a cycle helmet and a bike lock or you won’t be able to participate. Mike will check to make sure that you have both these items before the start of the ride and no-one will be allowed to join the ride without them.
