Spice Dines East - Jobber's Rest, Upminster
Overview
Continuing our series of dining out on the east side of London, join us for dinner at The Jobber's Rest on the edge of Upminster towards Cranham.
This is a Heartwood Inn gastro-pub which is part of Raymond Blanc’s White Brasserie Company group, so there’s a touch of Gallic flair to some dishes on their a-la carte menu; they serve seasonal foods “grown with care and cooked with love”. Described as a characterful pub, it has a large dining room with a decent amount of space between tables, along with multiple snugs and side rooms. There's also an expansive garden, should it be nice enough to sit outside for drinks before dinner.
There's a good mix of meats, seafood, vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Their meats come from an award-winner butchers who supply the royal household and, as Raymond Blanc is the president of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, their fish and shellfish is ethically sourced. Starters are £5-£10, sharing platters are £24, Mains are £17-£35 and Sides are £5. Desserts are £7-£14 See a sample menu here but be aware that it may change by the end of October: HERE
They have wine, beer (including a few on tap), cider, spirits, cocktails, mocktails, low alcohol and alcohol free options, juices and soft drinks.
On the night you just pay for your own food, drinks and the relevant service charge (typically 12.5%). Please note that this restaurant is cashless and you can only pay by card.
