Getting There

By road

Kelham Island Museum is located on the edge of the city centre on Alma Street, off Corporation Street (A61). You turn onto Alma Street just by the Tesco on the corner.

Alma Street is now partially closed to vehicles, with barriers outside The Fat Cat pub. You can drive round to the museum car park, but have to exit the way you came in, back onto Corporation Street.

Sheffield Clean Air Zone

From 27 February 2023 a Clean Air Zone will come into effect in Sheffield affecting the most polluting heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), light goods vehicles (LGVs), vans, buses, coaches and taxi’s that drive within the inner ring road and city centre. Find out more at sheffield.gov.uk

Parking

Limited visitor parking is located on the main museum site. Alma Street car park is the next closest (just a few minutes walk from the museum), located next to the Fat Cat pub.

Parking is free for the first hour and then charged at £1.50 per hour thereafter. Payments can be made online via the free RingGo mobile app or by calling the number 02030 460060. There is also a machine in the museum car park which accepts card payment for this car park only.  Please pay for parking on arrival – the free first hour is included in your payment (e.g. a two hour stay will cost £1.50). Stays of less than one hour do not require registration. There is an option to log your free hour on the mobile app if you would prefer, however this is not necessary.
