Overview

The Blackbushe Air Day is an annual event celebrating all things aviation. There will be fun and games for all the family, with a static aircraft display, food, drinks, live entertainment, a history hub and trade stalls.

There will be limited availability to participate in some flying action also, with experience flights on Scillonia Airway’s Dragon Rapide, Adventure 001’s R44 Helicopter, and SEMET Aviation’s Cessnas.

This year we have over 100 aircraft attend and 200 classic cars, including historical aircraft from Blackbushe’s past. This year we’ve got 150 classic vehicles booked in, including a group of Morgans, classics such as the Jaguar E-Type, and even some american police cars!

At 16:00 the classic cars will parade along the taxiway for everyone to see!

The Blackbushe Air Day is not a flying display, we aim to invite a wide variety of aircraft types and sizes for static display to attendees of the Air Day. With many of the types being vintage, they are often subject to strict weather and maintenance requirements.

We are delighted to share that the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight have offered us a flypast again this year. We’ve been allocated a Lancaster and a Dakota which will grace the skies over Blackbushe in the middle of the day!

Host & Everything Else

Normally the Blackbushe Airport site welcomes dogs, as does the Pathfinder Cafe. However, given the size of this event, and volume of people expected, we ask you to leave your four legged friend at home. Guide Dogs / other registered service dogs are of course welcome.

Whilst some of the event space will be paved, a lot of the event will be on open grassed, and uneven ground. All participants should be aware this is an outdoor event, and weather conditions not only on the day, but in the run-up to the event may affect the quality of the ground. As the only paving connecting much of the event space is an active taxiway, it will not be possible to navigate the full event on the hard standing alone. Unfortunately this means the event may not be fully accessible in places for those with reduced mobility.
