Diggle Canal Walk & Grandpa Greene's Lunch
Overview
Join us for a 4 mile easy canal walk at a medium pace followed by lunch at Granpa Greens at Diggle famous for their ice cream!
We will meet at Grandpa Greenes at Diggle and walk southwest along the canal towards their other site at Uppermill, where we can stop for a brief coffee or ice cream, we will then return and have lunch in the Parlour
The route is mostly flat following the Huddersfield Narrow Canal towpath. Starting from the Canalside Diggle parlour, we will head southwest along the water, enjoying views of the rolling Saddleworth hills and distinctive narrow locks. We will continue past the old pallet works until we reach Uppermill, where we will exit the canal near the museum or bridge and head to Greene's Bistro.
There is a large car park and customer toilets and the venue is also dog-friendly.

Location & Itinerary
We will meet at 10.45am ready to set off on the walk at 11am from outside Grandpa Greene's Ice Cream Parlour and Cafe, Canal Side, Ward Lane, Diggle, Saddleworth, Oldham, OL3 5JT.
Driving directions to Grandpa Greene's Car Park: From Oldham, follow the A62 towards Huddersfield then after about 4 miles, fork right into Wall Hill Road. At the A5082 turn right towards Diggle continuing for about 1 mile. At the A5070 turn left continuing for about 1 mile and turn right into Huddersfield road. After approximately 1 mile, turn right into Ward Lane.
