Cambridge Social Weekend
Overview
Overview: It’s been a while since we have had a weekend in this historic city, so Steve and Arlene Dell are running one. The weekend aims to discover the great university city of Cambridge, which just oozes culture and heritage.
We stay in a one of the colleges, right in the centre.
The weekend is designed to be flexible and relaxed - over the weekend there will be several coordinated activities and visits to the many attractions of Cambridge
You can either do all of these activities or dip in and out as you please, you may want to go to other attractions in smaller groups or you may want to do some shopping! There will be group meals on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
Cambridge has some great attractions and historic places to visit. Steve will develop an itinerary of coordinated activities in advance of the weekend. When these are finalised, they will be added as events on the website for you to book. To give you an idea of what we will get up to, here are some of the main attractions; Hop on Hop off bus (a great way to get a feel for the city and where everything is), punting and picnic on the River Cam (a must do!), tour of a college (plenty of choice here!), The Fitzwilliam (and other) museums, Cambridge Botanical Gardens and much more.
The weekend starts…
Friday: Travel at your leisure; either come earlier or after work. We could fit in an activity on the Friday afternoon if there are people interested.
Friday Evening: Steve will organise a group meal with the option to carry on exploring the Cambridge nightlife afterwards
Saturday: There will be a number of coordinated activities during the day. You can do all of them or just dip in and out with the ones you fancy. Most of them will be shown as trip extras as separate events and will need to be booked in advance.

Travel & Stay
Accommodation - Christs College: Hotels in the centre of Cambridge are notoriously expensive, so we have booked some rooms at one of the Colleges who offer accommodation during holidays. Christs college is very central to everything, once there will be in walking distance.
They point out that they aren’t a hotel so don’t have the usual facilities such as a bar, restaurant etc but the rooms, whilst basic, the rooms are perfectly adequate for our weekend, and it comes at a great price. It is one of the oldest colleges and oozes history.
Accommodation - University Arms: Since launching the weekend break, one of the hotels we discounted due to high rates, have offered us better rates, so we have reserved some rooms at The University Arms in addition to the college. It is still more expensive than the college, but you have a choice of accommodation. Here is a link to the hotel’s website
Parking: There is no parking at the college but there are public car parks nearby. There are also some Park & Ride car parks and of course the train is an option.
