Sunday Walk: Garstang and Greenhalgh Castle

Return to Events

Sunday 06 September 11:00

From £5.00

Listed by Spice Manchester

Overview

A new and varied walk in and around Garstang, a quaint old market town in between two cities - Lancaster, one of Lancashire’s oldest cities and Preston, its newest. We initially stroll north along the river Wyre on the riverside footpath, passing the sculptures in the Millenium Park and then make our way into the foothills east of Garstang. We return via the ruins of Greenhalgh Castle, which was built in 1490 and dismantled after a long siege by Oliver Cromwell during the Civil War.

Please bring your walking boots and sandwiches as we will be stopping en route for a picnic, and if you use a walking pole you may find it useful to bring it too because there is one short section of steep (ascending) footpath.
