The Shakespeare Express from Leicester or Nuneaton to Stratford-upon-Avon
Overview
Join us for a magnificent journey on a heritage train
The ever-popular Shakespeare Express is now running from Leicester with options to catch it from Leicester, Nuneaton or Coleshill Parkway, taking us through varied and pretty countryside to the wonderful town of Stratford-upon-Avon.
As this is a main line, we run at express speeds of up to 75 mph behind a famous express steam locomotive* from the golden age of train travel.
We leave Leicester at around 10:15am (see the Sample itinerary for other timings) when we can sit back in our 1950s or 1960s seat for a journey back in time as we make our way to Stratford upon Avon.
We should have around 4 hours in Stratford upon Avon where we will plan some other activities at one of the many attractions and have lunch somewhere.
The return is around 4:45pm.
Note about tickets: We need to book and pay for these tickets in advance. We will need to resell your place before we can offer any refunds.
* Steam: The Shakespeare Express is due to be steam hauled and usually is. However, on occasions, due to instructions from Network Rail (usually in very hot weather with an increased risk of fire) or in the case of steam engine availability, the service may be run by a heritage diesel engine. Vintage trains won't offer any refunds in these circumstances.
