Overview

New for Sandbox VR and created in partnership with Netflix and starring Matthew Modine as Dr. 'Papa' Brenner. Stranger Things: Catalyst allows fans to step inside the global phenomenon series in an all-new immersive chapter that puts you at the heart of Hawkins’ darkest secrets.

Become Dr. Brenner's test subjects and explore the sinister halls of Hawkins Lab, the eerie glow of the Rainbow Room, the shadow-haunted woods of Mirkwood, and the nightmarish Upside Down. Every location comes alive with stunning visuals and mind-blowing action sequences.

Fight like Eleven using your incredible telekinetic powers to hurl objects, crush obstacles, and fight back against supernatural threats like Demobats, Demodogs and even the terrifying Demogorgon. You’ve binged the show, now brave the Upside Down.

Our evening will consist of :

Arrival to check in with our Sandbox host 15 minutes prior to our booking time to ensure our Sandbox VR experience does not get cut short This will consist of about 10 minutes of training and setup, about 30 minutes in the VR experience. Another 10 minutes post experience to grab a drink from our robot bartender and re-live your experience with cinematic video highlights with you and your group as the stars.

We will be in the game as a group and will not be mixed with any other groups.

Please note that Sandbox VR have a very strict 5 minute grace period policy for reservations and any tardiness could result in the booking being cancelled.

Includes

A 1 hour visit to Sandbox plus your Spice Host consisting of 10 min check-in, 10 min training and set up, 30 mins game play and 10 mins to grab a drink (not included in the price) from the robot bar tender and a chance to experience video highlights.
Services of your Spice volunteer coordinator.

Sandbox VR is located in Grand Central Shopping Centre, Birmingham, B2 4BF

The closest train stations are New Street and Moor Street, both less than 10 minutes walk away.

Parking near the venue is limited, but there are various car parks in the Bullring & Grand Central vicinity.

Before You Go

Am I likely to get motion sickness? While we can’t 100% guarantee it, the experiences are designed to be very different from other VR experiences you may have tried before: it’s room scale, you can freely move around, and your entire body is tracked. Motion sickness is caused by a difference between your actual and perceived motion. Because the motion capture technology tracks you in real-time, your real movements translate to your perceived movements. Many guests who have had motion sickness in other VR experiences do not experience it at Sandbox VR

Physical Requirements:

As a guideline, guests should be

1.2m (48″) or taller to play

Able to support gear weight of at least 2KG’s (4 lbs) for up to 1 hour

Able to walk unassisted for 30 minutes continuously with full use of both hands.

Unfortunately, this experience is not currently wheelchair accessible.

This experience is not recommended to pregnant women or those with heart conditions

If you are prone to sensory over-stimulation, we would advise you to contact the Spice office and discuss the suitability of the experience so you can make an informed decision.
