Walking with Linda : 7 mile, Hampstead Heath Circular walk with Kenwood House and Pergola Gardens Vi
Overview
Join Linda for a 7 mile, Hampstead Heath Circular walk with Kenwood House and Pergola Gardens Visits.
Please meet on the corner of the pavement, opposite the exit from Hampstead Heath railway station by 09:50 ready for a prompt 10:00 departure.
We'll walk up to Parliament Hill and across Hampstead Heath, passing by the Men's naked swimming pond and the Ladies naked swimming pond (we will not be stopping for a swim!).
We will walk on to Kenwood House where we'll have an hour to enjoy the beautiful building, the artworks and treasures inside, use the toilet facilities and admire the view.
We'll then walk on to the infamous, Spaniards Inn (dating from 1585) for lunch (at your own expense) at about 12:30.
Literary luminaries Keats, Byron, and Dickens have all drunk here before us! It is also believed to be the birth place and favourite haunt of highwayman Dick Turpin.
Or, if you prefer, you can bring a picnic to have sitting in the nearby woods.
We will have a break of about an hour and a quarter for lunch before our afternoon walk through woodlands and via 'blue plaque' homes en-route to Pergola Hill Gardens before returning to Hampstead Heath railway station.
You might like to join some of us who enjoy to end the day in the local pub or café for a cup of tea or bar drink, or you can just make your way home from Hampstead Heath station.
Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want.
Please dress for the weather on the day (and you might like to bring a golfing umbrella if it is expected to rain!).
Physical exercise and social interaction is said to regulate our nervous system and sharpen our focus. Movement stimulates the release of brain-devised neurotrophic factor (BDNF) 'brain fertiliser' apparently, so please join us for a day of collective social health and welfare! (Plus a pub lunch, tea, and cake which I believe is also good for us!).
Your walk leader is Linda Richardson (07575 799909 for on the day). Please ring or text if you are lost, late or can no longer attend.
Please check your transport times, and for any engineering works, at least the day before the walk and allow some contingency time for delays. The walk needs to depart on time for the comfort and enjoyment of those who have arrived on time. Thank you.
