Lickey Hills Views, Sculptures & Bluebells Figure of 8 Walk
Overview
This event is in the process of being postponed. If you were interested in booking, please add yourself to the waiting list and we will let you know once a new date has been arranged.
This is a great time to walk in the Lickey Hills, when we can enjoy bluebells, wide ranging views and stunning woodland.
Bearing in mind that not all of us will be up for a full day of walking, we have leisurely walking to suit everybody, whether you want an easy 3 miles in the woodland hunting for bluebells, or you wish to continue with a hill walk in the afternoon. The walking is all on good paths.
Figure of 8 walks allow you the opportunity to just do one short “easy” walk, or to stay on after a café break* for a second circuit that makes the distance up to “moderate” level. You can decide on the day whether to stick after the first walk or continue for the full 6 miles. Richard will point out features and history as we go.
We meet at the Visitor Centre at Warren Lane and our walks are as follows:
Ramble 1) 10.30am depart for a southern circuit of that takes in parts of the Bluebell Trail, Sculpture Trail and Woodpecker Trails. We'll enjoy woodland paths and panoramic views. We'll also stop to admire (and interpret??) the curious art installations along the way. We should be back at the Visitor Centre around 12 noon, where there are usually drinks/ snacks available, or bring a picnic lunch.
Ramble 2) 1pm depart from The Cafe/ Visitor Centre heading north to discover the high point of Beacon Hill with it's fort (a Victorian folly with links to the Cadbury family). We'll enjoy various habitats including ancient woodland and pools. There is a cafe as well if we need another break! This route is approx. 3 miles and we expect to be back at the Visitor Centre by 3pm.
Dogs: This route is dog friendly and there is seating outside the café for those with dogs. So if your dog is “people friendly”, please bring them along!
