Overview
Join Linda for this 6, 7 or 9 mile, Putney to Wimbledon walk, stables, Buddhist Temple & Windmill visits.
Please meet in or outside The Rocket Wetherspoons pub, beside the,River Thames, near the south end of Putney Bridge by 09:50 ready for a prompt 10:00 departure for our walk.
We'll walk alongside the River Thames, across Commons and a Heath to Wimbledon where we will stop at about 12:30 for a pub lunch (at your own expense). We will have a break of about an hour and a half for lunch
After lunch, we'll visit the village stables, one of London's premier training yards, to meet the horses (including Mr Fudge, the Shetland pony), tour the yard and see the Equicise simulator.
If 5.5 mile walk, the pub lunch and stables visit is enough for you, you can go home from the nearby Wimbledon railway station.
After the stables visit, we'll take a 10 minute walk to the Buddhist Temple for a visit before walking for another 15 minutes to the Wimbledon Windmill Museum for a visit and cup of tea stop opportunity.
Or you could leave us after the Buddhist Temple visit and ho home from Wimbledon railway station.
The Windmill Museum is run by volunteers, who will answer any questions you may have, plus there are information boards. We will tour the Windmill Museum independently and then meet up again in the café next door where you can get a tea, coffee, cake, or ice-cream etc if you wish.
We will finally, all walk together to Wimbledon railway station to catch our trains home.
Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want.
Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring a golfing umbrella if it is expected to rain!).
Please check your transport times, and for any engineering works, at least the day before the walk and allow some contingency time for delays. The walk needs to depart on time for the comfort and enjoyment of those who have arrived on time. Thank you.
