Walking with Linda: 3 or 6 mile, London Blackfriars to Elephant & Castle walk, Graffiti Tunnel, Scoo
Overview
Join Linda for this 3 or 6 mile, London Blackfriars to Elephant & Castle walk, Graffiti Tunnel, Scooters Café & Mercato.
Please meet just inside Blackfriars railway station on the north side of the Thames (NOT the south side of the Thames) by 09:50 ready for a prompt 10:00 departure.
We will initially walk over and alongside the River Thames and then via back streets and a garden to the Graffiti Tunnel which will lead us to Scooter's Café. We are going to have a coffee break at Scooter's Café (bar drinks and snacks are also available if you wish).
We'll then walk back to the River Thames and walk alongside it, past the Covid-19 Memorial Wall, down to Vauxhall where we'll have a pub lunch (at your own expense) beside the Thames.
If a three mile walk, Graffiti Tunnel, Scooter's Café visit and a pub lunch is enough for you, you can go home from Vauxhall station after lunch.
Otherwise, after lunch we'll walk through numerous gardens and back streets to the Mercato (Elephant & Castle), London's first sustainable community market, housed within an old, abandoned paper factory. This is where we will stop for our afternoon tea break.
We'll then walk the short distance to Elephant & Castle railway and tube stations for you to catch your train home.
Please bring drinking water, money to buy lunch and any other drinks and snacks you may want.
Please dress for the weather on the day (and bring a golfing umbrella if it is expected to rain!).
Please check your transport times, and for any engineering works, at least the day before the walk and allow some contingency time for delays.
The walk needs to depart on time for the comfort and enjoyment of those who have arrived on time. Thank you.
