Overview

The walk will start at the first sculpture in Eton Wick by The Corner Cafe, 1 Bell Lane, SL4 6JP at 10.30am. It's a circular walk of about 8 miles with lunch in Windsor - bring your own or get something. One of the last sculptures is in Windsor & Eton Brewery where we will stop for an optional drink. Estimated time of arriving back at Eton Wick is 4pm.

The sculptures are quite wide spread so we may organise another walk to view some in other areas. This trail will only exist for short time and is one of the many "Wild In Art" trails you may have seen others around the UK, we have followed them in Bristol and Reading previously.

The trail is totally free, but the hope is to raise money for a very worthy cause, so I hope you will donate £5 which will go directly to the charity.

You can make additional donations here: https://www.thameshospice.org.uk/donate/

We will walk whatever the weather (unless there is a severe weather warning from the Met Office) so please dress appropriately, including walking boots or walking trainers. Take a picnic lunch water and refreshments for the walk too. We will meet at 10.15am for a prompt start at 10.30am. There is a free car park near the start point and street parking too.

Over the next nine weeks, these incredible larger-than-life artworks will transform the community into one giant outdoor gallery, inviting families, friends, neighbours and visitors to explore, discover and make memories together.

The trail is completely free, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy. Whether following the full route or discovering just a few elephants along the way, visitors can enjoy a unique summer experience across Windsor and Slough while learning more about the work of Thames Hospice.

Created by Thames Hospice in partnership with Wild in Art, Trunks across the Thames is much more than an art trail. It is one of the biggest community projects the Hospice has ever undertaken and a celebration of everything that makes our communities extraordinary.

Featuring 30 large elephant sculptures, each uniquely designed by talented artists, alongside 60 ‘Mini Herd’ elephants created by local schools and community groups, every elephant has its own story to tell. Together, they celebrate the places we love, the people who inspire us and the compassion that sits at the heart of Thames Hospice.

About Thames Hospice

Quality of life, to the end of life, for everyone

A very warm welcome from us all at Thames Hospice. Proudly serving the community of East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire for more than 36 years, we work in partnership with our local healthcare colleagues to provide specialist palliative and end of life care services to people aged 16 and over in their own homes and within the Hospice.

Expert care, everyday kindness

Treating everyone with kindness, compassion and providing a safe and caring environment is at the heart of everything we do to support those facing a life-limiting condition.

We are committed to delivering care that is agile and responsive so that we give patients and their families choices about the care they receive, providing the highest quality clinical and therapeutic care within our Hospice and in patients’ homes, supporting the physical, social and psychological needs of our patients and their loved ones. Our highly skilled Doctors and Nurses work with patients and their families to develop a complete programme of care tailored to their needs, treating everyone with dignity and respect.
