The RAF Fauld Explosion 27 November 1944 - Erasmus Darwin House
Overview
This fully illustrated talk by Steve Booth looks in detail about the terrible explosion that occurred in November 1944 at Fauld, just north of Burton. Fauld was a massive underground armaments store and the occurrence was the fourth largest man-made explosion during World War 2, causing tremendous damage in Burton and it also had an impact in places like Lichfield.

Erasmus Darwin House is located in Beacon Street, on the edge of the Cathedral Close, and a few minutes’ walk from the centre of Lichfield. Our postcode is WS13 7AD.
From Beacon Street, go through the green gates on the right-hand side of the House.
From the Cathedral Close, go through the passageway opposite the west end of the Cathedral and then through the herb garden. The entrance is in the garden at the rear of the House.
