The Pentland Way Challenge - Dunsyre to Swanston - 3 Days
Overview
Join Jamie for a short walk challenge.
The Pentland Way is a 20 mile (31.6km) walk along the length of the Pentland Hills. It runs between Dunsyre in South Lanarkshire and Swanston, close to the Edinburgh City bypass.
The idea of a route along the Pentlands originated in 2012 and was the brainchild of John Stirling, one of the founders of Friends of the Pentlands (FotP).
The walk was waymarked with special signage, and came into existence in 2015.
For a fit, experienced hillwalker route can be walked in a (long) day, However, for our convenience the route will be done in three section.
This enables us to start on the lower and less demanding sections of the walk and keeps the more dramatic sections and views for later. (It also follows the usually-prevailing SW wind, and fits better with the limited transport & parking options at the southern end.)
Each section will have it's own write up but will be as below:
Saturday 19th April 2025 - Dunsyre to Carlops (13 km approx generally flat)
Saturday 7th June 2025 - Carlops to Flotterstone (12 km approx, and several ascents)
Saturday 19th July 2025 - Flotterstone to Swanston (6.5 km approx and several ascents)
