Overview

A varied walk exploring the Wyre Valley and ascending an adjacent area of high ground – Nicky Nook. This is arguably the best vantage point in Lancashire, offering distant views of Darwin Tower, Winter Hill, Beacon Fell, Blackpool, the Irish Sea coast, the Lake District and the Bowland Fells. We initially make our way through Wyresdale Park, then ascend to the trig point on the top of Nicky Nook at around 700ft above sea level. We then descend through a pleasant wooded valley to pass through the pretty village of Scorton, and so access the string of lakes bordering the Wyre in order to return to the cars. Please bring your walking boots and sandwiches as we will be stopping en route for a picnic.

Facilities: Toilets en route at the Wild Bean Café, about 5 miles before the car park where we meet assuming you follow the ‘Getting There’ directions.

A lovely walk with Spice the Social Group Trig Point above Nicky Nook
