Sunday Walk: Acton Bridge and Dutton Locks, Northwich
Overview
An absence of roads makes the lower Weaver Valley a peaceful place with abundant wildlife.
The walk follows paths over fields, beside the River Weaver and along the Trent and Mersey Canal, the latter having surprisingly good views from its terrace above the river.
Acton Swing-bridge, the locks at Dutton, the Weaver railway viaduct and the Trent and Mersey Canal add quiet elements of industrial archaeology to this rural corner.
Location & Itinerary
Grade 5: 6 Miles - please refer to the walk grading information with the website FAQs HERE which also gives you a list of recommended items to bring with you.
We will be parking on the road outside the Leigh Arms, which is situated on the A49 Warrington to Whitchurch road in the village of Little Leigh, near Northwich, Cheshire close to the Acton Swing Bridge.
The nearest Motorway is Junction 10 of the M56, about ten minutes away.
Please note: the parking on the road can get quite busy so leave yourself a little bit of time to fiind a parking space before the walk start time
We will meet ready to leave at 11am outside The Leigh Arms Pub Car Park
