Overview
Overview: One of the most essential events in the Spice Summer programme is our annual Summer Ball. This is always a very special occasion, and this year will be no exception.
This 2025 West and East Midlands Summer Ball will be at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the banks of the River Avon in the magical heart of Shakespeare’s Stratford.
You can also be sure of lovely food, great company, and dancing until late with our DJ spinning a great selection of tunes to keep the dancefloor full.
It will be a great reunion of Spice friends from the Midlands and further afield.
There is so much to do in Stratford upon Avon why not make a whole weekend of it.
As well as the Summer Ball on the Saturday evening, there will be a programme of walking and a social activities over the weekend.
The weekend starts…
We will meet on the Friday evening and have dinner as a group. There will be a group meal near to the hotel. Following dinner Steve will go through the plans for the weekend and afterwards, we can discover some of Stratford’s nightlife.
Saturday: There will be the option of a walk or social activities during the day.
Then it’s time to party…
Reception: We will meet from early evening for pre drinks in the bar and garden areas to give us the opportunity to catch up with Spice friends, old friends, new friends and best of all, those friendships yet to be made on the night!
The Party: You can look forward to a sumptuous, formal three course dinner. We will take seating requests, but don’t worry if you don’t know anyone as we will take care to seat everyone with people who we think they’ll bond with. After dinner, our DJ will keep the dance floor full with a wide range of music that will take us into the small hours of Sunday.
What to Wear: As ever, we don’t prescribe a dress code as such, but as the event is at a prestigious 4* hotel, in a beautiful town, why not ‘dress to impress’ with a black tie and cocktail dress attire! or if you prefer a smart approach.
Table Plan: Please let us know if you have any specific seating requests. We will endeavour to meet all requests. The tables are likely to be for 10, so if you want to bring a table sized group, please let us have the names when booking and we'll reserve a complete table for you.
Sunday: There will be the option of a walk or social activities.

Location & Itinerary
These are the walks over the weekend.
Saturday: We walk from the hotel to the pretty village of Clifford Chambers utilising some of The Greenway, the River Avon and parts of historic Stratford upon Avon. Here is a link to the event for more details
Sunday: We drive a short distance to Henley in Arden for a walk taking in the Heart of England Way, the site where Beaudesert Castle once stood, Preston Bagot church and the Stratford upon Avon canal. Here is a link to the event for more details
In both cases, you will need to email us (westmids@spiceuk.com) or call the office to book as they are on the website as chargeable events for members not booked on the weekend, but are included if you have booked the Summer Ball Weekend.

- Chicken liver parfait Served with house chutney & sourdough croutes
- Bruschetta (VE, V) Topped with heritage tomatoes, grilled peppers & fresh basil pesto
Main courses
- Chicken fillet (GF) Accompanied by lemon and thyme roasted new potatoes, button mushrooms, bacon lardons, red wine jus
- Wild Mushroom & Spinach Potato Gnocchi (V) Served with thyme sauce and crispy onions
Dessert
Raspberry Frangipane Tart (VE, GF) Accompanied by raspberry compote
Travel & Stay
We stay at the superb 4* Crown Plaza hotel, right in the centre of Stratford upon Avon, with its riverside location. The hotel has a pool and gym.
Single Supplements are higher as they are double rooms for sole occupancy.
