Peak District Well Dressing Walk: Monsal Head and Ashford in the Water
Overview
Join us on this lovely walk 7 mile walk with Steve Dell with spectacular views, pretty riverside walking and some superb woodland walking. We go during a time when the well dressing in Ashford in the Water is on display.
Starting at Monsal Head (as there is more parking there) we make our way through Little Longstone and then through typical Peak District ‘dry stone’ wall farmland to the pretty village of Ashford in the Water, where we will have a look at the well dressing. We then follow the river Wye for a bit and then walk through Great Shacklow Woods, coming out at Lees Bottom. We then follow the river Wye as it winds its way to the impressive Monsal Head viaduct.
We climb up to the viaduct and then onto Monsal Head itself where we could have an ice cream or we have tables reserved at a pub in Ashford in the Water for Sunday lunch.
Location & Itinerary
The is a cafe at the start and end of the walk. There will also be the option of a pub lunch after the walk.
