NT Live! The Importance of Being Ernest - YouTube
Overview
During the lockdown, the National Theatre came up with a novel way for the public to still enjoy the best from the stage. Post lockdown they provide a subscription service, but occaisionally, they provide a free show, and this one is a real treat, a very funny version of The Importance of Being Ernest, I saw a live screening last year and having seen the play very often over the years, this one is my favourite so far.
At the end of the show, I can open a zoom room, if you want to chat about what we have just watched. I will send the link nearer to the date.
The Importance of Being Ernest
Three-time Olivier Award-winner Sharon D Clarke (Ellis) is joined by Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who; Sex Education) and Hugh Skinner (Fleabag) in this joyful reimagining of Oscar Wilde’s most celebrated comedy.
While assuming the role of a dutiful guardian in the country, Jack lets loose in town under a false identity. Meanwhile, his friend Algy adopts a similar façade. Hoping to impress two eligible ladies, the gentlemen find themselves caught in a web of lies they must carefully navigate.
