Coventry Canal Sculpture Trail Walk with Floating Market
Overview
This event is in the process of being postponed. If you were interested in booking, please add yourself to the waiting list and we will let you know once a new date has been arranged.
This is a lovely 5.5 mile walk starting at historic Hawkesbury Canal Junction and ending at Coventry Canal Basin where a floating market will be staged this weekend. As this is a one way walk we can then use the local bus service together to return to the start.
The Walk: The last 5.5 miles of the Coventry canal, from Hawkesbury junction to the city basin, has been developed and transformed into the City’s longest park. The park contains an art trail, pocket parks and heritage trail. Richard will have a guide to the 27 artworks that we hope to discover on the way and will do his best to spot and explain them!
The Market: When we reach Coventry Basin we will be rewarded by the spectacle of a colourful floating market. There will be a market with various trading boats including a floating pub, historic canal boats, an outdoor cinema, live music, and land based stalls including street food traders. The canal basin café will also be open serving food and drinks and there are public toilets.
Getting Back to the Start: After we have had time to enjoy the market, Richard will lead us back using a local bus (plus an approx 20 min walk from the nearest stop back to Hawkesbury). If you prefer, you may wish to share a taxi back. Back at Hawkesbury there is a famous pub for those who wish to stay on.
