Overview

I love the Mill at Sonning, and we visit regularly, I am very excited to be able to travel via Thames Rivercruises for the first time.

They will be offering visits to certain Matinee's too, so look out for that popping up. We will be travelling on the Devon Belle. The Devon Belle has a special place in the fleet, she is a piece of floating history having taken part in operation Dynamo to rescue troops from the beaches of Dunkirk. Devon Belle (known as Seymour Castle in her earlier life) has all the character of an historic vessel but has been fitted with the conveniences of a modern boat.

We sailed her from Plymouth in 1999 and undertook the first of several refits to make suitable for the Thames. Her wide foredeck and open top deck make her the best boat we have for photography.

I do hope a few people will be available to join me.

In partnership with Thames Rivercruise, visitors can sail between Caversham and The Mill, and back, on a beautiful one-hour journey through some of Berkshire's most picturesque riverside scenery.

But the Sonning Mill Ferry is more than simply transport to the theatre – it's a local river service and a wonderful day out in its own right.

Whether you're visiting The Mill, exploring Sonning village, enjoying a riverside walk, meeting friends for a drink, or simply spending a relaxing afternoon on the river, the ferry offers a unique and enjoyable way to travel.

Regular Thursday sailings allow passengers to journey to Sonning and return later in the day, making it perfect for a leisurely summer outing.
