Join us today for an external site tour of the Belper Mills complex, with an exclusive trip into the North Mill Basement when conditions allow. Our tour will take approximately 75 minutes to an hour depending on questions.
Belper North Mill, also known as Strutt's North Mill, in Belper, is one of the Derwent Valley Mills, given UNESCO World Heritage Status in 2001. The mill is sited in Belper, a town in Derbyshire, roughly halfway between Derby and Matlock. The Mill played a vital role in the UK's Industrial Revolution and is of architectural and historic importance.

Location & Itinerary

By Car: Belper is on the A6 between Derby and Matlock.
By Bus: Trent Barton ‘Sixes’ service and the Transpeak bus services run to Belper. The 6.1 between Derby and Bakewell drops you almost at the mill door.
By Train: Belper is served by trains running between Newark, Nottingham, Derby and Matlock and from Birmingham, Tamworth and Burton changing at Derby.
The Station is a short walk (0.4 miles) from the North Mill.
